Today was an exciting day. Members of the Pittsburgh Pirates stopped by the school as part of the 2011 Pirates Winter Caravan. Pitcher Jeff Karstens and 2nd baseman Neil Walker joined Pitching Coach Ray Searage and Announcer Tim Neverett for an hour long assembly. They were joined by the one and only Pirate Parrot! While here, our guests and several students participated in the Pirates' version of "Minute to Win It". Each contestant received an autographed game jersey. Two other students were given the responsibility of keeping their eyes on the Pirate Pirate. They both received hats and autographed baseballs. Be sure to watch the news tonight. Both WKBN and WFMJ covered the event. In addition, the Pirates will be posting pictures and video within a day or two. Click here to check it out.
Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

Volunteers Needed!
Volunteers are needed to serve on a school-levy committee. Please let me know if you are willing to help. Simply call or write me a note. I will share your name and number with Dr. Zorn who will then turn things over to the committee chair. Thanks in advance.
Raffle tickets continue to be sold for the 27" television set. A winning ticket will be drawn early Friday afternoon. Good luck!
Have a wonderful day.
Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

Brrrrrrr!
It may be cold outside, but we are one day closer to spring! Before we know it, we'll be listening to the sounds of lawnmowers and baseball bats. I don't know about you, but I've had enough winter.
During today's morning announcements in the gym, I started reading a new book. Ask you children what they remember about Freddy. He seems like an interesting kid who really wants to buy something at the mall! See if you can find out what it is.
Have a wonderful day.
Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

A New Week!
Our week has begun with yet another 2 hour delay. Cold just doesn't describe what it felt like this morning. Let's hope the rest of the week doesn't have any delays or cancellations. Today also marks the beginning of the 3rd grading period. I encouraged our students to begin this grading period on the right note. Please continue to check assignments book each night and encourage your children to stay organized. Report cards will be coming home on Friday.
What else shall we discuss? Perhaps I could spend just a few lines of today's blog on the Super Bowl bound Pittsburgh Steelers! Despite my words on Friday, I did not relax in my recliner or even enjoy pizza. I was too excited to sit and far too nervous to eat anything.
Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

Another Short Day!
It's been a rather short week to say the least. I hope the 2 hour delay didn't catch too many people off guard. Today marks the end of the second grading period. Report cards will be sent home next Friday. It's hard to believe the school year is just about halfway over.
If you are planning on heading to the YSU Basketball games tomorrow, please drive safely and have a great time. I'm sure there will be quite a few activities to keep the kids busy.
Now.....let's chat for a few moments about the Pittsburgh Steelers. My Terrible Towel is ready to go! My recliner is primed and ready for action. I'll tip the pizza guy a few extra bucks before I nestle into my chair for three hours, too. I'm hoping to wear my Steeler tie on Monday!
Thanks,
Mr. Mike Tomlin

Family Night!
Family Night went very well. I'd like to thank those who helped make it a success. There is a wonderful article written in today's Vindicator. Simply click here to read it. There will be another article in an upcoming edition of the Town Crier, too.
It looks as if another winter storm is heading our way. Please be sure to watch your televisions and/or listen to the radio in the morning.
YSU Basketball tickets will be heading home with those who had requested them. Please check those backpacks tonight.
Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

Family Night!
Tonight's Family Night for 3rd and 4th graders is still on! The weather certainly has made this event a bit challenging. On the other hand, it is January Mr. Masucci! Please plan on arriving between 5:30 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. We will begin shortly before 6:00 p.m.

With more snow heading our way in the next few days, please make sure you stay tuned in to local television and radio stations. I wouldn't be surprised if another day of school is ether cancelled or delayed this week.
Thanks,
Mr. Polamalu
