Growing by Leaps and Bounds!

The greenhouse has become a very busy place! Our students have been hard at work transplanting small "plugs", watering and preparing soil. There is nothing wrong with getting your hands dirty! Inside the greenhouse you will find, herb gardens, wave petunias, inpatients, begonias and tomato plants. Within a day or two, there will be a group of pictures you can check out on this site. I will update the pictures regularly so you can see how quickly the plants are growing!

Thank you,
Mr. Masucci

Upcoming Events

In addition to our upcoming Kindergarten and 3rd Grade Program, our PTO has two events planned for next week. On Wednesday, April 9th, Father/Son Night will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Plan for a night of channel surfing, games, fun and food! Papa John's pizza, chips and ice cream will be served! Friday, April 11th will be an evening for just the girls! Mother/Daughter Movie Night will begin at 6:00 p.m. Wear your pajamas, bring sleeping bags and prepare to have a good time while watching the movie on our giant screen! LA-Z-Boy Furniture gallery will be providing comfortable recliners for two of our luckiest guests! The Bruster's ice cream cart and freshly popped popcorn will be here, too!

More Great News!

Several weeks ago, all students in grades 1-4 worked at home and in school on their entries for the Green Team's Placemat Contest. I am proud to say that our school had more winners in grades 1-4 than any other school! This is quite an accomplishment and one that we should all be proud of. Congratulations to Ben, Kaitlyn, Michael and Kelsey for receiving honors. However, all should be congratulated for their efforts!

A note will be sent home tomorrow with all afternoon kindergarten students asking their parents to bring them to school shortly before 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 8th for a dress rehearsal. Their spring program will be that same evening at 6:00 p.m. and every practice helps! Once here, the afternoon students will be able to stay the remainder of the day. They will be able to bring a packed lunch and eat with Miss Gura in their classroom. More details will be included in the letter.

Mr. Masucci

Practice....Practice.....Practice!

Our Kindergarten and 3rd Grade students had a chance to practice today for their upcoming performance on Tuesday, April 8th. This year's program will have a patriotic theme. Dr. Szabo and our teachers have them sounding wonderful!

There have been a lot of entries turned in for the upcoming Elementary Art Show scheduled for Friday, April 18th. This year's show will be held here at Poland North Elementary School. Please plan on attending. More details will be coming home soon!

Welcome Back!

Is it Friday yet? It was relatively quite this morning when I entered the gym to greet our students. There were not too many smiling faces. I wonder if the parents were the ones with the smiles. Our afternoon kindergartners had a little bounce in their steps when they arrived, but they had a couple extra hours of sleep!

It is always nice to come back to great news! The Board of Mahoning County Commissioners, through the recommendation of the Mahoning County Solid Waste Management District Policy Committee, has approved our school's request for a Mini-Grant totaling $900.00. The funds will be used to further enhance our school's greenhouse and enable our students to participate in more outdoor learning activities.

Thank you,
Mr. Masucci

Back to School!

With our Spring Break over, it is back to business at Poland North Elementary School. There won't be too many smiling faces in the morning.

Be sure you get back into a routine as quickly as possible. Check your child's backpack for homework and important information each day. Keep reading each evening with your child, too.

Thank you,
Mr. Masucci

Spring Break!

On behalf of my entire family, I would like to thank everyone for their sympathetic words, cards, thoughts and prayers. Your kindness has been deeply appreciated. Although it may be for only one day, it is nice to be back to work!

There will be a Magic Show this afternoon for all students. It will prove to be a very nice way to end our day and begin our Spring Break.

Enjoy the upcoming holiday and days off. Classes resume on Monday, March 31st.

Thank you,
Mr. Masucci
