Time to Plant!

If all goes according to plan, I will be traveling to Zeller's Greenhouse in Rootstown, Ohio on Friday to pick up several hundred "plugs". Plugs are small plants that are typically about an inch tall. The very nice folks at Zeller's donate the plugs to our school each year and love the fact that our students are "getting their hands dirty". The plants will make our greenhouse come to life in a hurry!

In addition, a portion of the money from our recent "Cans for Cash" prize will be used to build small, circular beds in the courtyard. Our students will plant a variety of gardens in them when the weather warms up!

Take a Look!

I was reminded at tonight's PTO Meeting to provide a little information about a potential 2 hour delay. In the event of this type of delay, morning kindergarten will be canceled. However, school will be open. Our day will begin at 10:20 rather than 8:20 and bus routes will be adjusted. Lunch schedules, afternoon kindergarten and dismissal will remain the same.

Warm Weather!

It will be a very busy week. Don't let the warm weather fool you. Please be sure your children come to school dressed to go outside for recess. We plan to get them out each day.

I hope to see you at this evening's PTO Meeting. It will begin at 6:30 p.m. Please try to make it. Your input is appreciated. Election Day is tomorrow! Please head out and vote. Tom McCabe from the Board of Elections assured me that this is the last time our school will have voting. They plan on moving to another location.

Keep sending in those cans! Our last Cash for Cans pick-up will be Tuesday, March 11th. As you already know, every can makes a difference.

FYI!

I'd like to thank everyone who supported our fundraiser. It seemed to go exceptionally well. Your support is deeply appreciated.

I am quite certain that we are only a few days away from reaching our $6,000 goal for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. This is absolutely wonderful! Our students are looking forward to finding out the recipient of a well deserved wish. I will be certain to keep you posted.

This is typically a very difficult time of year. Our students sense that Spring is in the air and are ready to say good-bye to the long, cold winter. Consequently, some students begin to misbehave and temporarily "forget" our school's rules. I intend to be much more visible next week and will "remind" those who do so of the consequences. Please be sure to review what type of behavior is expected at school. Your support is essential.

Just A Reminder!

There will be a PTO meeting on Monday, March 3rd. This is our last evening meeting of the year to try to accommodate those of you who work during the day. The meeting will be held in the library and will begin at 6:30 p.m. There is quite a bit on the agenda. I hope that you are able to attend.

Special Visit!

Our students will be treated to a special event tomorrow afternoon. The Morris Brothers, a group touring from California, will present an anti-bullying program entitled Bully Busters. Please try to take a few moments tomorrow evening to ask your child about the program. This is one of the many special events funded by Poland North's PTO. Thank you.

There will be another work session tomorrow evening for those participating in Scholastic's Kids Are Authors Contest. Our gym will be open from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. I hope to see you there.

Our Spring Pictures have been rescheduled for Monday, March 10th.

Oh Boy!

Here we go again! The weather prevented us from going to school today! Let's hope we'll be back tomorrow. The weather looks a bit rough for this evening. Keep your fingers crossed.

If we have school on Wednesday, information about the Green Team's "Placemat Contest" will be coming home. Our students have done exceptionally well in this one and I hope we are able to submit a lot of entries.
