Family Disney Night

Information is heading home today regarding our upcoming "Family Disney Night" for all K-2 students and their parents. This "magical" event will take place on Thursday, November 4th from 5:45 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Additional information will be sent home in a few days. If you have any questions, please feel free to call me.

For those new to our building, we typically hold at least two family nights throughout the course of the school year. We have held everything from Family Math Night to Family Technology Night.

Our first batch of aluminum cans will be picked up tomorrow. Keep 'em coming.
3rd and 4th graders who chose to participate in this year's "Juvenile Court Advisory Board's Stay in School Poster Contest" must have their posters to school by tomorrow morning.

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci
P.S. Don't forget. Tomorrow in "Nickel Day!"

It's Friday!

Today was an absolutely beautiful day! Let's hope this weekend is just as nice. Our Poland Bulldogs take on Howland tonight at PSHS. If you are heading to the game, go early. I'm sure it is going to be crowded. Go DOGS!

Don't forget that Monday will be "Penny Day". Please encourage your children to bring in a few cents. Clean out the cars and check the couch cushions for those sneaky pennies.

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

Sunshine!

It's hard to believe that the sun is shining. This is what happens when the Yankees win! Keep your fingers crossed for a nice weekend.

Information is heading home today on a yellow sheet of paper about our PTO's plans to participate in this summer's Relay for Life. Please encourage your children to participate in our upcoming "coin days". The amount you are able to send in is not what's important. Participation is strictly voluntary.

Thanks to our wonderful Fire Department for stopping by some of our classrooms today. I know our students enjoyed it.

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

Wednesday!

Our website has a new link to the General Mills BoxTops for Education site. You'll find it to the left of today's message. We are off to a fantastic start this year. Keep those BoxTops coming! Close to 50 sheets made their way to school today. Please spread the word to your neighbors and family members. A special thank you goes to Mrs. Fec for organizing this year's campaign.

The first grading period is just about halfway over. Be sure you continue to check assignment books and backpacks for important papers. It's never too late to start a routine for practicing spelling words or flashcards. Spending just 5 minutes a night can make a huge difference.

My beloved New York Yankees play tonight. I hope I come to school smiling tomorrow!

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

PTO Meeting

Our 3rd graders let out a sigh of relief earlier today when they finished their Reading Achievement Assessments. Results will be sent back to school by mid-November.

I hope 3rd and 4th graders are working on their "Stay in School" poster entries. This annual contest is a great one. All entries are due back to school by Tuesday, October 12th.

Our monthly PTO Meeting will take place this evening at 6:30 p.m. in the library. I hope to see you there!

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

A New Week!

It's Monday! Can you feel the excitement here at Poland North Elementary School? Today's weather is a bit soggy, but the rest of the week looks pretty good. By Friday, we are expecting temperatures in the 70's.

October 12th is our first "Aluminum Can Pick Up Day". As you know, we are collecting empty aluminum cans throughout the school year. The Cash for Cans program is a wonderful way for our school to earn cash. More importantly, our participation teaches our students the importance of recycling and protecting our planet. Keep those cans coming! We are off to a great start.

Please plan on attending tomorrow evening's PTO Meeting. It will begin at 6:30 p.m.

See you there.

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

A New Month!

October brings with it a new character trait from our Core Essentials Program. This month's trait is "Initiative". Click here to learn more about the program. Ask your children what they remember about today's story. At the beginning of each month, I share a story about an animal that demonstrates that month's trait. Today's story was about a beaver.

Our first "Walk Home from School Day" was a huge success. A big thank you to the parents and grandparents who volunteered to walk. Days like this are possible because of you. Enjoy the pictures.

Thank you,
Mr. Masucci
