Our Mother/Daughter Movie Night on Friday was a huge success. A Kindergarten student and her mom won "the best seats in the house", watching the movie in recliners! Every girl left with a smile on their face and a custom made mirror. A big thanks to Mrs. Klase and her committee for organizing the fun-filled night. This morning, the winners were chosen for the baskets and fingerprint flowerpots. Two lucky 4th grade students won the girl basket and the mom basket. Five winners will be planting flowers in their new fingerprint flowerpot. Thank you to Mrs. Casey for helping with the raffle

Third Grade was popping popcorn all morning to end their economic unit. The students advertised, took orders, delivered the popcorn, and counted the money. This is a great demonstration of all they learned about economics. Tomorrow is the Scholastic Buy One Get One Book Fair. It begins at 2:30 and will continue through 6:00. Our Mother/Daughter Night will begin at 5:00. Each girl will complete a craft to take home with them. The movie, "Chip Wrecked" will begin at 6:00. Please remember to bring something comfortable to sit in for watching the movie. There will be raffle tickets sold for winning the "best seats in the house" and a copy of our movie. Our Basket Raffle winners will be chosen on Monday morning during announcements. If you want to enter for a chance to win, please buy your tickets tomorrow! The fingerprint flower pots are a one-of-a-kind!

Our first day of testing was quite a success. Our 3rd graders can breathe a sigh of relief as they completed the Reading section. The whole school is helping with the success of our test-taking by being extra quiet in the hallways and restrooms. Fourth grade's turn will be Tuesday with the Reading test. We will end the week with the Math sections. Please encourage your children to get a good night's sleep and eat a good breakfast.

Today was a perfect day to celebrate Earth Day! Our classes each had the opportunity to plant flowers and vegetables with our Kohls volunteers. The Kohls volunteers helped each student plant a flower in a small pot, which will be taken home in early May. They also helped with planting tomatoes and green peppers in half of a water bottle to encourage the reusing of materials. Kohls will award our building with a grant for incorporating Earth-friendly ideas to our school day.

Our PTO also helped with our Earth Day celebration by painting the students' fingerprints onto a planter. Each fingerprint will be turned into a "bug". The students decorated Earth Day bookmarks while waiting their turn to paint. Our day was a fun celebration of doing our part to improve the Earth.

The flamingos have made their return to North and are ready to flock the yards of Poland. This is a way "Team North" raises money for the Relay for Life. For these pink birds to appear in your yard, or a friend's yard, we ask that you make a $10 donation to the American Cancer Society. More information about being flocked is coming home with your child today. Look for the pink paper! Please complete the bottom portion and return with your donation by Friday, April 27th.

The students are enjoying a new book this week to go with the upcoming Earth Day celebration. The book, Mallory Goes Green, tells of a girl who becomes the class representative for the school's Green Fair. She comes up with a fantastic idea, so she thinks, but no one will listen to her. We will find out how she solves her problem and if her class can decide on their way to reduce, recycle, or reuse.

Welcome back everyone. The students were quiet as they were strolling in this morning. It must have been hard to hear the alarm after enjoying our days off. The 3rd and 4th Grades are busy preparing for the Ohio Achievement Tests that will be next week.

The end of the week, Kohl's will be here for an Earth Day celebration. We will do our annual planting of tomato and green pepper plants along with flowers. It is always nice to see the students get their hands dirty with planting!
