Merry Christmas!

From all of us here at Poland North Elementary School, I'd like to wish our students, staff and families a very Merry Christmas! It was a wonderful day. Our students were filled with holiday cheer. In other words, they never stopped talking!

Thanks to our wonderful PTO, hot chocolate and candy canes were passed out to all. Despite a very busy schedule, Santa Claus made it to many of our classrooms. He was greeted with smiles from ear to ear.

Happy Holidays!

Mr. Masucci

Today was busy. there is simply no other way to put it. We started the day with a visit from PSHS's Seminary Singers. As usual, they did an amazing job. This year's group is an extremely talented one. Afterwards, our 1st and 2nd graders performed. With the help of Dr. Szabo, they put the final touches on this evening program. It will be gin at 6:00 pm. sharp. Students are to remain with their families until instructed to head to their classrooms.

After lunch, our students were treated to a puppet show by Sadecky's Puppets. Thank you PTO for providing the funds necessary for the visit.

A Busy Week!

Next week certainly will be busy and exciting for our students and staff. While it may be a bit noisier the next few days, I consider it a blessing to be able to be around your children this time of year. (I consider the upcoming days off a blessing, too.)

Ticket sales are going well for this year's Holiday Plates. Because of the day off this week, winning tickets will be drawn during Wednesday's morning announcements. Winners will be notified with a telephone call.

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

Back to School!

We are back at it here at Poland North! I hope everyone managed to enjoy the day off yesterday. I know I did. Keep in mind we have now used one of our three calamity days and winter has not even officially started yet. It may be a very long winter.

Information is going home today with 3rd and 4th graders about the upcoming "Family Night" scheduled for Wednesday, January 12th. Try to keep that date open on your calendars.

Brrrrrrr!

The Winter Storm Warning for our area is still in effect. For now, we seem to have avoided the worst of the storm. Tonight may be a different story.

In the event school is delayed tomorrow, we will still have our Holiday Performance for grades 1 and 2. If school is cancelled, the performance will be rescheduled for Tuesday, December 21st at 6:00 p.m. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

Enjoy the Weekend!

Enjoy the weekend. If the forecast is correct, we can expect a lot of snow to fall. I checked our school's pond to make sure the goldfish were still doing well. They had no real complaints, but were hopeful for a heater this holiday season. Their wish has been granted! Representatives from PondScape will stop by today to winterize the pond and drop off a new heater.

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

Holiday Plates!

A guy could certainly get used to this kind of schedule. I'd like to thank all of our parents for a smooth beginning to the week. Delays are not easy to deal with for many families. Your cooperation is appreciated.

I'd like to thank Mrs. Schaefer, Mrs. Orr, Mrs. Klase and Mrs. Anness for their help with our holiday plates. Tickets for the plates will be on sale beginning Monday for $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00. This year's batch is one to remember. Be sure to stop by the school and check them out.

Santa's Workshop begins tomorrow. Items will be sold for $5.00 or less. If you have any questions, please feel free to call. Mrs. Partika, Mrs. DeMarco and Mrs. Kellgren spent quite a bit of time setting things up for us. Thank you ladies!

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

A Short Day!

With today's late start, our day went by very quickly. The rest of the week may bring with it a lot of snow. Please stay tuned to local television and radio stations each morning to find out if our schools are closed or operating under a 2 hour delay.

The final touches are being put on this year's Santa's Workshop. This Wednesday and Thursday all students will have the chance to do a little holiday shopping of their own. Information regarding this was sent home several days ago. If you have any questions, please feel free to call the school.

Let it snow! Let it snow! Let it snow!

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

The Upcoming Week!

The upcoming week is going to be very busy. Santa's Workshop is one of the bigger events of the school year. Information regarding it was sent home several days ago. If you have any questions, please feel free to give the school a call. Santa's Workshop provides our students with several opportunities to do their own holiday shopping. I'd like to thank Mrs. Partika for taking care of this year's event.

Dr. Szabo will be putting the final touches on the upcoming holiday program. 1st and 2nd graders will be performing holiday classics on Tuesday, December 14th. There will be a dress-rehearsal at 10:00 a.m. and an evening performance at 6:00 p.m.

Be sure to ask your children about Poland's Intramural Basketball League. It's a wonderful program for students in grades 1-8. I encouraged all of our students in grades 1-4 to get involved. It's a great opportunity to learn about the game of basketball. More importantly, it is a wonderful way to establish and develop new friendships with students from all around Poland. If you happen to have any questions regarding the program, please contact Mr. David Wolfe at polandbasketball@zoominternet.net.

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

Thank You PTO!

Our monthly PTO meeting went very well. I'd like to thank those who were able to attend. The luncheon was greatly appreciated by our staff, too. December is such a busy time of year. We discussed the Santa's Workshop, our holiday plates and this year's holiday treat.

I also shared a very touching letter from a Marine stationed in Iraq. He and his battalion received one of the trees donated by Pioneer Trails Tree Farm and ornaments created by our students. He thanked our students and staff for their many contributions to our troops over the years. He also wrote, "I haven't cried over much in my life, but this tree and ornaments brought tears to my eyes." I'll be sharing the letter with our students tomorrow.

Mission Accomplished!

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

December has arrived with snow on the ground! Be sure to check the school's calendar for information about upcoming events. This is such an exciting time to year to be around children. Their is a lot of excitement inside our building.

I'd like to thank the Green Team's Peg Flynn and our PTO volunteers for their help with yesterday's "recycled ornament project". There is a great article in today's Vindicator. Be sure to check it out by clicking here.

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci
