Box Tops!

Information about our school's Box Tops program is heading home today. Please make an attempt to collect as many as possible. It truly can make an enormous difference for our building. Students and classrooms that collect the most will definitely be rewarded. Click here to play a game that can land our school a ton of bonus points!

Click here to watch Mrs. Saculla receive the Giant Eagle Class Act Award.

Please plan on attending Tuesday evening's PTO Meeting. It will begin at 6:30 p.m. Hope you can make it.

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

Box Tops!

Information will be making its way home soon about collecting Box Tops! This is an easy way for our school to earn extra money. Many of the products you already have in your homes participate in this unique program. Click here to find out more. Until the information gets to you, simply save as many box tops as you possibly can. Spread the word to family and friends, too.

Quite a few students completed last night's "virtual assignment". Thanks! There will be many more throughout the course of the school year.

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

Summer Fun!

Summer is always a lot of fun for me. This summer was no exception. Here is a list of 5 things I did over the summer. After reading it, create your own list. Write 5 things you did over the summer on a piece of paper. Make sure your name and room number are on it. Put it in the yellow box outside of the office tomorrow morning and I'll reward you. Be neat! If needed, parents can help students in kindergarten and 1st grade with the writing.

"5 Things I Did Over the Summer"

1. My family went to Ocean City, Maryland.

2. I saw the New York Yankees play baseball.

3. I built a pizza oven in my backyard. Mmmmm!

4. I probably hurt my knee building the oven.

5. My family and I visited friends in Deep Creek, Maryland.

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

A Rainy Day!

Today certainly has been a soggy day. As the week rolls along, the weather will get better. Friday's Walk Home from School Day should be an absolute perfect day. I'll be getting in touch with our volunteers by Wednesday.
Thank you to those who returned their PTO fundraiser packets. Mrs. Orr was here today to collect them, but will gladly accept forms that didn't make it in today. Your support is appreciated.

Have a great week!

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

Enjoy the weekend!

I came across a wonderful story this morning. Click here to read it. After reading it, you may look at the upcoming weekend differently.

I hope to see everyone at tonight's Tailgate Party! Let's hope the Bulldogs come out on top against the Red Dragons. Mrs. Orr and her committee have worked very hard to ensure the evening is a success. I'm sure it will be one our most memorable events of the school year.

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

Congratulations!

Congratulations to Mrs. Saculla for receiving WFMJ's Giant Eagle Class Act Award! Mrs. Saculla was surprised early this morning when WFMJ's Mark Monstrola entered her classroom with balloons and his crew. The Giant Eagle Class Act segment will air Wednesday, September 29th on WFMJ Today during the 6:00-7:00 a.m. hour. Mrs. Lisa Weimer was kind enough to nominate Mrs. Saculla for this special award. Thank you Mrs. Weimer!

Tomorrow's Tailgate Party will begin at 5:30 p.m. behind PSHS's Fieldhouse. Bring your appetites.

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

It's Wednesday!

The middle of the week has arrived! Before you know it, the weekend will be here. YSU tickets were sent home with those who returned their forms. I hope to see a lot of our families at Saturday's game. Go Penguins! Look for another offer this winter for free YSU basketball tickets.

Our Tailgate Party is quickly approaching. It looks like the weather will be on our side. Mrs. Orr has done a wonderful job planning this year's event. Bring a few extra dollars for a chance to win flowerpots decorated by our students. There will be basket raffles, too.

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

Thanks!

Thanks to those who were able to make it today's Kindergarten Tea. The stars of the show were full of smiles. I'd also like to thank Mrs. Gesacion and Miss Gura for their hard work. In addition, Mrs. Kellgren and Mrs. Partika made sure everything ran smoothly. Your hard work is appreciated, too.

Be on the lookout for information about our first "Walk Home from School Day" of the new school year. This special day will take place on Friday, October 1st. If the weather is not on our side, I will give you plenty of time to adjust your schedules. Cross your fingers for a dry day!

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

Greetings!

It's nice to be back at work! This week is going to be a very busy one. Tomorrow's Kindergarten Tea should be a lot of fun. I know our kindergartners have worked hard to prepare for their visitors. I am proud to report that we are expecting a full house.

Friday's Tailgate Party will be another super event. Mrs. Orr and her committee are putting the final touches on what should be a great night. Hope you can make it.

Important information is heading home today with 3rd and 4th graders about this year's Juvenile Court Advisory Board's "Stay in School" Poster Contest. I love contests like this because our students can and do win. Those who choose to participate will automatically enter a drawing to eat dinner at my house, too! Please encourage your children to participate. If it's important to you, it will be important to your children. Here is one of my favorite quotes:

"Behold the turtle. He makes progress only when he sticks his neck out."
Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

Don't forget about Tuesday's Kindergarten Tea. I'm sure Mrs. Gesacion and Miss Gura will have their students ready to go.

Next Friday will be our PTO's annual Tailgate Party. Information was sent home this week. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Orr. Hope to see you there.

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

Coming To An End!

Our first week of school is quickly coming to an end. While we have had a few bumps in the road, it has been a very smooth beginning to the school year. Please continue to establish routines at home that include checking backpacks and helping with homework.

Our new Physical Education teacher, Miss Rider, is off to a great start, too. Many of our students have experienced her class and do so with smiles. Our 4th graders will meet her tomorrow.

I hope to see a lot of faces at Tuesday's PTO Meeting. The meeting will be held in Room 102 and begin at 11:00 a.m. There will be quite a bit to discuss. Please plan on attending.

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

It's Day 2!

Our students were introduced to their new Physical Education teacher this morning. Miss Rider is anxious to begin the school year, too. She is a Malone College graduate and comes to the Poland Schools with quite a bit of experience. We are thrilled to have her.

Having three children of my own, I know how many important papers made their way home yesterday. Please do your best to get them filled out and returned to school. It is deeply appreciated.

Please note that PTO's first meeting of the year will be held on Tuesday, September 14th at 11:00 a.m. While one of the papers sent home may state it will start at 9:00 a.m., the meeting will begin at 11:00 a.m. Sorry for the confusion.

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

Welcome!

It's the first day of school! There were a lot of smiling faces that entered the building this morning. There were also quite a few that looked less then thrilled to be here, but do not worry. Our teachers will get back into the swing of things rather quickly. (C'mon......that's a little first day of school humor!)

Start getting into the habit of checking your child's backpack today. Many important papers will be heading home this first week of school. Please return them ASAP.

Have a wonderful day.

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

Orientation Day

All kindergarten and new students were invited to school today to get a feel for their new home away from home. Starting a new school can be tough. I hope that today's experiences will make next Tuesday a bit easier for everyone.

Enjoy the Canfield Fair! Classes begin Tuesday, September 7th.

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci
