Sticky!

It was a bit sticky at times today, but the warmer weather means we're one step closer to summer! Plans are coming together nicely for our annual Fun Day. Mrs. Diaz and her committee are hard at work putting the final touches on this year's event. Fun Day will take place on Thursday, June 10th.

Please get your ticket requests for the Pittsburgh Pirates in ASAP. I need to make sure there is plenty of time for me to receive the tickets and pass them on to families before June 11th.

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

A New Week!

Welcome back to another week of school. There are not too many of these left you know! After today, we are down to 13 days of school. I hope everyone enjoyed a soggy weekend. The weather this week looks a lot better.

Saturday's Rummage Sale was very successful. In all, close to $300.00 was collected and will be turned over to the American Cancer Society on behalf of our Relay for Life efforts. Great job Miss Gura and Mrs. Kellgren. I'd also like to thank those who volunteered their valuable time Saturday to help.
Poland North Elementary School is featured in the May edition of the Ohio Division of Wildlife's monthly Educator’s E-newsletter. Please view the e-news here.

Better Late Than Never!

Sorry for being a bit late with today's message. It's been one of those weeks. We were treated to an outstanding performance by PSHS's Seminary Singers today. They certainly put everyone in the mood for summer. Afterwards, they stuck around and sang with our 4th graders. It was definitely nice to see and.....hear!

Get those Pittsburgh Pirate ticket orders in soon. The Pirates are playing pretty good baseball these days. Let's hope they keep it up.

I'm off to cut the grass!

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

Summer Reading!

Be sure to ask your children about what they learned from today's "Summer Reading" program. Miss Annette visited from the Poland Library and explained the details about this year's program. All of our students are encouraged to read over the summer. Please consider participating with your children. If it's important to you, it will be important to them.

Poland North will be presented with the Core Essentials Award tomorrow afternoon! All of our students should be proud.

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

Busy...Busy...Busy!

I apologize for missing a few days of blogging. I have been rather swamped putting together this year's 4th Grade Recognition Video. I really enjoy creating it, but always mange to hit a few bumps in the road along the way. This year's bumps are a bit larger than usual. That's a nice way of saying, "AHHHHHH!"

We're looking forward to Thursday's visit from the Seminary Singers. They are extremely talented.

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

A Quiet Day!

It was a very quiet day. Every now and then, we mange to have one of those. It was pretty nice.

The students were fortunate to get outside for recess today. All of this humidity makes me believe rain is on the way. Let's hope it stays dry for the weekend.

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

Play Ball!

Information will be heading home soon regarding free tickets to see the Pittsburgh Pirates. Don't laugh! The Pittsburgh Pirates are actually playing pretty good baseball these days. Over the years, our school has developed a great relationship with the Pirates. Each student will be entitled to a free ticket for July 20th's game versus the Milwaukee Brewers. Look for more information early next week.

There will not be a vegetable sale this year. This spring's lack of sunshine really did a number on our tomato and pepper plants. Before the end of the month, each student will bring home a few plants for the garden. Hopefully you have one!

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

Rain...Rain...Go Away!

Enough with the rain already! Our new pond has now been transformed into a lake. If this keeps up, the fish will be swimming inside the greenhouse. After reading the recent article about the pond in the Vindicator, a couple from Youngstown dropped off 5 rather large goldfish that have adjusted nicely to their new home.

Let's hope the rain moves out of here before the weekend arrives.

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

Under the Weather

I was not in school today due to illness, but was never out of reach. Technology sure is wonderful. I look forward to getting back to work tomorrow.

I should learn some more details about the Core Essentials Award. As you know, Poland North is now a 2-time winner! A ceremony will be taking place soon. I'll be sure to keep you posted.

Have a wonderful day. It's hard to believe that there are only 23 days of school left. Woohoo!

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

Let's Walk!

Today's "Walk Home from School Day" was a huge hit. I'm sure our bus drivers had smiles you could see from miles away. I'd like to thank our PTO volunteers for their help. This could not be done without you.

Staff Appreciation Week has come to an end. Thank you Mrs. Klase for another job well done. On behalf of our entire staff, I'd like to thank the PTO for their kindness and time. I think our PTO is simply the best.

There is a very nice article in today's Vindicator about our school's pond. be sure to take a look.

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

Splish Splash!

Our students were very excited to "release" their class fish into the school's pond today. I am happy to report that all of the fish seem well adjusted and comfortable in their new school. (C'mon...that's good stuff!) Overall, they have made a big splash.

Thank you PTO for a wonderful lunch. Today's PTO meeting was the last of the year! Thanks to those who were able to attend. I'd like to personally thank this year's President, Mrs. Tammy Sabrin, and the rest of our Officers for all that they have done for the students of our building. Our PTO serves our students exceptionally well and plays an enormous role in the overall success of our building. I am extremely fortunate to be a part of such a strong, organized and effective organization.

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

A Beautiful Day!

It sure was a beautiful day. I know our students are enjoying the nice weather. I'll be having lunch with some students in the courtyard tomorrow. We can enjoy the sights and sounds of the great outdoors!

I'd like to thank the PTO volunteers that are helping to make this week an extra special one for our staff. Mrs. Klase and her committee are doing a great job. Mr. Beau Weaver represented the Board of Education this morning and stopped by to express his gratitude to our staff. Mr. Weaver and his wife have two children who once walked the halls of North, so he felt right at home. Thank you Mr. Weaver. You and the Board of Education are appreciated, too.

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

A New Week!

Welcome to the month of May. I'd like to thank our incredible PTO for an amazing beginning to Staff Appreciation Week. I know the staff is looking forward to a week's worth of surprises.
Time ran out on me today before I was able to complete a letter asking each child to bring in 50 cents tomorrow. Each class will use the money to purchase a fish for our new pond.

Don't forget about the PTO Luncheon on Thursday, May 6th. It will begin at 11:00 a.m. Friday will be "Walk Home from School Day". Keep your fingers crossed for nice weather.

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci
